This chapter describes the role of the key players in our legal system today. There are many people who contribute in a variety of ways to the legal system. Besides, the key players - criminals, police and lawyers - the chapter examines the role of the judge, witnesses, jurors, sheriff and even forensic scientists.
The Canadian legal system is a multi-billion dollar business each year and processes more than two million criminal cases each year. On top of this are thousands of civil litigations each year. So, it is important to see how members of our legal system interact with each other and how they work together to insure a fair and just society.
