| III. Government & The Law |
Government plays a key role in our legal system today. The Federal government appoints senior judges and enacts many of our criminal offences. We have three levels of government in Canada today - Federal, Provincial and Municipal. How do they interact with each other? Who makes up each of these levels? This chapter explores these questions in depth.
As well, the chapter focuses on election processes, types of politicians and the role of political parties. Perhaps the most important part of this chapter centres around how politicians and the legal system interact. How are laws made? Why are they made? And, then how these laws are enforced and changed.
In all, this chapter provides you with an excellent overview of the Canadian political system.
